JEWELLERY - A FASCINATION OF WOMAN SINCE AGES:

What a Girl wants, what a Woman needs, is all that you can give in Platinum, Gold, Silver, and if Diamonds, then you are her best friend for life.

As a kid, I particularly remember one thing about my Mom, which she continues to do till this day, her passion for Jewelry. She used to discuss with her kitty friends, relatives and neighbors as well. When I was in college I overheard girls discussing the same and now that I have been in Love I am facing the same music, my Dad used to, and I bet he must have loved it.

What I still don’t comprehend is the reason as to know what drives the beautiful creation of God to the extent that she can do anything for these pieces of stones and metals.

It seems that Woman always loved ornaments of any sort which would make them look more beautiful and stunning, that’s why even before the discovery of Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver, woman in stone ages used to make ornaments from bones, shells and pebbles and their counter gender was also very much in using some sort of ornament around their body.

In 3100 BC, the Egyptians already had a hand over the most precious metals particularly Gold, which they accessed from central Desert and latter from Syria and North with their great military might. But, jewelry was made up of no precious stones, but from anesthetized arrangement of glass and semi-precious stones, which were more vibrant in color-subject so important to Egyptian civilization even now.

In similar manner when Greeks first got diamond in their hands, they thought it as useless shining stone, but found it “invincible”- which in Greek language means Diamonds. However, latter when world came to know its usage; it turned to be the most precious stone on Planet earth.

Coming back into the land of Pharaohs, where color of gold quickly replaced all other shades in the Egyptian history and continues to rule their imagination till this day.

Every page in Egyptian civilization is written in gold; from making of mummies to necks of women, Eldorado is everywhere.

In the modern history, Renaissance marked the great beginning of Jewelry and its absolute designs for womanhood of Europe, who by this time reached the new heights of delicacy, fashion and ‘jealousy’. Because of this new appearance, great artists like, Leonardo Da Vinci- who worked as a gold smith in a part of his life, when he portrayed woman, besides studying color he studied, hair styles, Dresses, and the Jewelry designs, and than put his before brush to color the canvas.

There was a rush in Europe, among rich households to out do each other in the trends of latest jewelry and its ever new elegant designs. This brandishing was a new phenomenon due unprecedented wealth pouring in Europe from its colonies. It was at such a rise among woman folk; no body even saw such a thing in history before. This given period is very important in the course of Jewelry history as it speaks a trend of jealousy and envying among woman, which took jewelry to the new heights desire and ultimate passion.

Women in those times started putting many necklaces around. A trend started in those times among the ladies who could afford; a Chocker and a longer necklace more like a long strand of pearls to their necks and not only this, at times a third Chaplet used to take position in somewhere in neck- when these rich and beautiful wore loose fit Garment.

King Henry VIII of England had a great fascination for Jewelry, but his Daughter Elizabeth I and latter, Queen Victoria brought a revolution in the way woman wore the precious crafted metals and stones in modern times. Such was the impact of these few Nobel’s on the history of jewelry, that when we here the Victorian era in jewelry, it significantly does not apply only to UK, but the whole globe relates its precious metal and their styles with this era.

Oh, we are forgetting the most important stone on earth- Diamonds which were in used in India, way back sum 2500 years. However, 17th century marked the beginning of an unending era of diamonds, in jewelry and its much talked history, as diamonds turned to be more popular than knights in courts of kings and in pedants of queens.

But, one real factor which changed every human’s perception about Diamond is when, DeBeers took control of industry, and changed the course with the lines, “Diamonds are forever.” After this immortal concept, everything was the presentation in this craft and the design holds the key place in the present day jewelry market. Companies like Faberge, Cartier, and Tiffany are more known for their designs than anything else.

“The Lively Diamond drinks thy purest rays, collected light compact.” Thomas James once said this. To me, I really love to see glow on her face which will be “forever.”
